Counting the people who used something I built yesterday…
Websites
People per day, as Google Analytics counts them.
Apps
New downloads per day, from the App Store and Google Play. Downloads are not visits, so they sit apart.
Tools
Open-source tools for developers. People who cloned the repo per day, as GitHub counts them: mostly Claude Code installing or updating the plugin.
Where the numbers come from
- Websites
- Google Analytics 4 on each site. “People” is what GA calls active users: one person counted once per day per site. Yesterday is complete by morning.
- iPhone apps
- App Store Connect sales reports. Only first-time downloads count, not updates or re-downloads. Apple publishes each day one to two days later.
- Android apps
- Google Play’s install reports (“daily user installs”). Google refreshes this file every few days and it runs about a week or more behind. Play Console’s own dashboard is fresher, but Google doesn’t offer it to anything outside the console, so Android always trails here. Each app row says how far its data goes.
- Tools
- GitHub’s traffic API: unique people who cloned the repo each day. GitHub only keeps the last 14 days.
- How it gets here
- A small function on this site asks all of the above about twice a day and caches the answer. Only the daily totals you see here leave those services.
